Still Standing

Weaver

I loosened the brakes on your car

I wired your bath to the mains

A tarantula stuffed in your bra

Should’ve brought you immeasurable pain

The grease that I spilled on the stairs

Or the cyanide slipped in your tea

Should’ve taken you out unawares

While I watched from a cupboard with glee

The glass in your coffee was wasted

The spike in your hat went unused

The wharfarin laced milk untasted

Please forgive me for feeling confused

I just can’t believe you’re still standing

My best efforts are never enough

Taking you out’s so demanding

I guess that’s why I’m in love.
