Notes for a Well Calibrated Angel

Degree of shimmer for Earth

should be set to around thirty percent –

humans react badly to more, and may write off

anything significantly less as a practical joke.

Your ground colour should be left

on default snowy white initially,

as tradition counts for a lot on first contact.

There is always time for experimentation later.

Phase is also important: too much

and you will over-materialize,

too little and you will sink through the ground.

Both results are of course bathetic, and can set

a project back months, or even years.

Wing-span and voice are matters

of personal preference, but should be within

the gender ranges laid out in the General Manual.

As always, queries in all matters of first apparition

should be addressed to your regional manager,

who was once a field angel, just like yourself,

and who will no doubt remember a trick or two

to help you with your final calibration.

Good luck, and don't forget to smile with your eyes!
