An Old Acquaintance

James Harris

Hello Darkness my dearest old friend,

What’s that you say; you’re on the mend?

Top news Darkness you old chum,

Pull up a pew and tell me some,

No more fears, hazy nights,

You can sleep without the light!

That is good news, o’ how I’m thrilled,

Tell me old fellow is it the pills?

They numb the anger and stress levels fall,

Compared with before you must be having a ball!

I have to say the mist is clearing,

Like a beam of light on a stormy evening,

You look tired old boy, a bit of a mess,

I must admit I don’t feel all the best,

Dearest Darkness I will say goodnight,

Be a good chap and turn off the light.
